Dear Cleveland fountain pen enthusiasts,

Thanks for a great meeting on July 26! We enjoyed our usual attendance number of around 20 and shared outstanding discussion on our pens, inks and paper. I’ll outline some of the highlights of the meeting here. Everyone’s presence and conversation and friendship gave us a great afternoon.

A meeting highlight was that we were given a few very generous giveaways. Howard brought a fountain pen themed baseball cap. We picked names out of that very hat, and Patrick won it. Then Joseph brought two very nice individual pen sleeves, which were won by Maureen and Jonathan. Everyone who attended brought some really great perspectives and conversation. I, for one, enjoyed it all thoroughly.

Following the meeting, I received a note from Eric that someone left behind a red notebook and a small green case containing two pens. Eric is hanging onto them and will bring them to the next meeting. If you want the items sooner than that, get in touch and we will get them back into your hands.

As I said after our previous club meeting, I’m interested in feedback. What works well? Where could we improve? Please let me know IN A SEPARATE EMAIL at clevelandpenclub@clevelandpen.club, or text me at (216) 543-2148.

Following our meeting, I came across the timeline for the Pelikan Hubs, which might be of interest:

June 26 – online registrations and hubmaster applications opened.

July 12 – hubmaster application deadline.

July 20 – hubmaster selection at Pelikan.

July 27 – selected hubmasters notified and hubs announced.

Early August – gaps filled and final calls for hubmaster to go out.

August 17 – final registration closes and Pelikan announces the official 2026 hubs.

Their website is www.pelikan-hubs.com. The 2026 hub map can be accessed here As of this writing, Cleveland is lacking a hub! Please consider applying for hubmaster while the window is still open – you don’t need any special qualifications. This is such a fun event, and Cleveland Pen Club will support you in any way we can.

The next meeting of the Cleveland Pen Club will be on October 25, 2026, at 1:30PM – 3:30PM at the same location, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Independence Branch, 6361 Selig Dr, Independence, OH 44131. We meet quarterly on the fourth Sundays in January, April, July and October. Plan to join us if you can, and invite any locals you know who are interested in the fountain pen hobby.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas to share in advance of the next meeting, please reach out. Otherwise, enjoy your pens, inks and paper, and spread the word about our club! I look forward to our next gathering.
